If you or a loved one is ill or infirm; facing surgery or a frightening medical procedure; or in danger of death, do not hesitate to contact one of the priests at (907) 276-3455. A priest will return your phone call any time of day or night. The priest needs to know who you are, where you are and how to contact you. Those facing surgery may receive the anointing of the sick prior to surgery, along with Confession, and depending on medical requirements, Holy Communion.
Those in danger of death may also receive this sacrament, but Viaticum (Communion for the dying) can only be given to those who are conscious and can swallow, so remember to plan accordingly. If unable to swallow, the person may still receive the anointing and Reconciliation. We do not anoint those who have already died; sacraments are for the living. If someone has died without a priest we can come and offer prayers for the dead.
